In the process I was able to salvage enough barnwood for the next decade of picture framing. The wood is over 100 years old and has never been treated. Most of it came from the exterior walls and some from buried underneath the ages of siding and paneling. The barnwood ranges from blacks to light grays and reds. Some of the barnwood has small remnants of paint in places. I personally frame each print with appropriate shades of barnwood and choose mat color that corresponds more to the colors in the frame than in the photo. This brings out the true essence of the older wood. In obvious cases I will use colors in the photo. All of the matting and mounting is done professionally in Crested Butte.
